Crossroads Comittees and Groups


Crossroads Council

Crossroads Council shall be responsible for those matters which involve
the joint interests of the St James and Trinity United Church
congregations. As the Court of the pastoral charge, Crossroads Council
shall be generally responsible for exercising leadership in the care and
oversight of the spiritual life and interests of the pastoral charge.
While the committees will be the life-blood of the church, the heart will
be the Crossroads Council, the Court of the Pastoral Charge which will
make policy decisions and set strategic priorities.



Turkey Suppers
Held twice a year – usually in April and October. These are very popular community suppers, which are Charge fundraisers where both churches participate. It consists of roast turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, rolls and homemade pies for dessert.

Stewardship Committee*
The Stewardship Committee shall oversee all Pastoral Charge financial
responsibilities, including Mission and Service contributions, salaries
and benefits of all paid staff, receiving allocations from each
congregation and annually reviewing the formula for allocations, loans and
grants for pastoral charge work, and all other pastoral charge expenses.


Worship Committee Crossroads Ministry and Personnel Committee

“serves as a confidential,
consultative body that supports the pastoral relationship” and is
accountable to Crossroads Council. They act as liaison between staff and
congregations.





Christian Growth Committee

Crossroads Christian Growth Committee will oversee the faith formation and
Christian education needs of the Pastoral Charge
- to plan and conduct educational events for all ages
- to plan and conduct adult studies
- to plan and conduct the charge retreat educational program
-to select and order S.S.curriculum
- to develop an overall plan for S.S. opening and closing
- to interface with presbytery Christian Life and Growth Committee

Ministry and Personel Committee

“serves as a confidential,

Communication Committee

The purpose of the Crossroads Communication Committee is to facilitate the
flow in information throughout the pastoral charge, between committees,
between the congregations, between the pastoral charge and the wider
church, and between the pastoral charge and the surrounding communities.
- to develop and maintain the charge website (s)
-to send out charge emailings, as required
-to produce a charge newsletter
-advertising
-to produce and distribute the annual report
-to oversee bulletin format and policy
- to carry out the responsibilities laid down by PPIDA
- to promote subscriptions to the Observor
